Description:

My client is a Financial Services Provider based in Bristol. They are currently looking for a Credit Scoring Analyst to support the operation of credit scoring as the primary method of risk assessment for all lending sectors throughout Personal Lending.

In order to maintain and enhance competitive advantage in sales, my clients business must optimise the correlation of risk to sales volumes, whilst maximising the speed of decision making and minimising the application packaging time. Credit scoring is the prime driver of these objectives

The Credit Scoring section is responsible for ensuring that the scorecards are developed and maintained to achieve these objectives. Also to ensure that lending policies, processes, procedures, systems, and packaging requirements are designed to support these objectives, thus assisting with the delivery of lending targets.

The Credit Scoring Analyst will support this with the provision of performance reporting, highly technical scorecard analysis and recommendations, and technical specifications

The role involves consultation with staff at all levels within Point of Sale, Marketing, Underwriting, Credit, and more particularly with IT departments and outside suppliers to ensure delivery of effective scoring solutions within Personal Lending’s continually evolving lending sources, and changing processing systems



Key Responsibilities:

Deliver scoring systems, which support all business propositions of lending specialists, maximum capital efficiency under Basel II, market-leading efficiency & quality of service to all customers (internal & external).

Organise and undertake the continual monitoring of scorecard performance through production of reporting for all scorecard-monitoring systems, recommending and implementing appropriate changes. Reporting is provided to all levels

Identify opportunities to improve scoring policies within changing, expanding, and new markets. Recommend and implement changes.

Regulation of the mortgage market, data protection, and credit scoring is an expanding and increasingly complex ‘industry’.

Remain continually abreast of statutory and regulatory requirements of credit scoring activities. Recommend and implement changes.

Deputise, for all scorecard related activities in Risk Manager-Scoring’s absence

Ability to train and mentor new staff in accordance with a training plan agreed with the Risk Manager – Scoring.

Ensuring that the correct calculations are performed so capital calculations for the business are both correct and minimise capital requirements



Key Requirements:



Essential
Demonstrable ‘hands-on’ experience of credit risk

Degree level education in Pure or Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research or similar discipline

Detailed demonstrable knowledge of ‘hands-on’ experience of scorecard development within both secured and unsecured lending.

In depth demonstrable knowledge, and recent experience in the operation of credit scoring monitoring processes and systems

Demonstrated ‘Expert’ level ability in use of SAS, Microsoft Access and Excel

Ability to work on own initiative, and as directed, within a very small “expert technical” team



Desirable

Evidenced detailed knowledge of underwriting policies and procedures

Demonstrable working knowledge of current IT systems (eg HTML)

Membership of the Institute of Credit Management
