Job Purpose
To develop, implement and support modeling requirements from the Risk and Marketing Team in order to achieve the Marketing Plan and financial goals of SAV Credit.
Job Role & Fit with SAV Strategy
SAV Credit’s business proposition is to market credit card products to the “underserved” segment of the UK population. As one of very few specialists in this area SAV has developed a unique business model designed, through a strong focus on analytics, to target prospects who have found it difficult to obtain credit in the past for and, through a customized servicing solution, manage these customers responsibly and profitability.
SAV, through the Aqua Card credit card brand, is now in a major roll-out phase of its business model which has been extensively developed and tested over the last four years. With the increasing development of sources of information for acquisition strategies, the need to expand into new channels for sourcing new customers and with the customer base in a rapid phase of growth it is essential that the development and execution of the Marketing Plan is founded on a strong analytical platform.
The Customer and Marketing Insight Senior Modeler will support the team in the development of models to support the strategic and tactical input to support this plan and the measurement of its success.
The jobholder will need to work closely with the Marketing, Credit Risk and the Finance teams within SAV Credit
Key Accountabilities
To identify target prospect consumers for the marketing of SAV Credit’s Aqua Card credit card and to implement the targeting and selection models for The Aqua Card mailing programme. This should include response, risk and value models using a variety of regression models and chaid decision trees.
To champion and manage the development of the modeling strategy with third parties to optimise the development of our prospect pool whilst having a good knowledge on how to use the data appropriately.
To extract analytical insight from our customers at point of application, analyse the performance of our marketing campaigns and to analyse the transactional data at account management level to assist in developing strategies to treat account dormancy and to improve the overall profitability of the portfolio. The candidate should have the ability to conduct segmentation, customer profiling, survival analysis to assist in developing insight and also to be able to predict current and future lifetime value of a customer. The candidate will be familiar with a variety of modeling techniques, including logistic regression (binomial and multinomial), decision trees, discriminant analysis and neural networks.
To work closely with Credit Risk, Marketing and Finance to develop the SAV pre-screening strategy for all mailing programme to optimize mailing performance.
To liaise internally with the Analytics group to ensure that the analysis is derived from the data sources and models built and implemented by the analytics group, ensuring that information management in the business is consistent and accurate.
To support the Marketing team in securing the SAV management team’s agreement to the development of strategies and programme through articulating the key data and information required to support the economic and strategic benefits of these programme to SAV and the value they will add to our customer relationships.
Key Experience/Skills
The ideal candidate will be a senior modeller who is an experienced credit card database marketing expert and also have experience of working in a direct marketing environment preferably focused on the sub prime market.
The candidate must have hands on experience in developing application score cards and targeting models and have the ability to project manage the development work to ensure that it meets the time, cost and quality.
The candidate must also have experience in gauging the timescales for the modelling development work to be carried out and to take full ownership of the delivery of the projects undertaken.
The candidate will be mentoring other team members within the team to develop analysis skills through the use of statistical methods.
The candidate will be at least graduate level and will also have relevant experience in customer response analysis. Data mining, statistical analysis and spread sheet based decision support experience essential.
A good knowledge of SAS Base, SAS Stat and writing queries to interrogate data is essential.
Knowledge of MS Excel, (macros) desirable but not essential.
Good interpersonal and influencing and skills. Must be able to present articulate and well thought-through business cases for the implementation of models to SAV senior management.
High energy levels, a positive outlook, and a willingness to enthuse colleagues and business partners about our strategies is essential. Willingness to “get their hands dirty” is essential in a small, dynamic company culture.
