Job Title: Decision Science Manager – Cards – Customer Management & CVMLocation: Cardiff

Overview
• To lead and develop a team of Decision Science analysts to ensure that best-in-class deep-dive analytics, modelling, credit scorecards and optimisation solutions are specified, developed and implemented in line with Cards customer management credit risk and customer value management strategies and processes for optimal risk and reward trade off.
• Working closely with Cards CM Risk and CVM teams in understanding business needs, identifying improvement opportunities through Decision Science solutions and designing champion-challenger test plans.
• Day to Day
• Apply advanced modelling techniques to predict customer behaviours such as credit risk, credit abuse, fraud, bankruptcy, affordability and future values, etc.
• Regularly evaluate scorecard/model performances and re-develop the models when appropriate. Apply optimisation methodologies (or working with external vendors) to develop optimal risk-for-reward strategies, such as credit line increase / decrease strategy optimisation.
• Liase with other functions, e.g. IT, finance, business change management, Group HQ, and other Decision Science resources to ensure projects are executed smoothly and implemented successfully.
• Regularly engage with Risk CM team and CVM team to review decision science solutions and identify new opportunities for improvement. Ensure all decision science projects are delivered in time with quality rigor.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of Credit Committee papers, as a result of the team’s activities.
Candidate Profile
• Highly numerate, with a first degree in quantitative discipline and a higher degree in statistics, operations research or economics is desirable.
• Strong IT and programming skills, likely to have experience with SAS, SPSS or similar statistical software packages.
• First class knowledge & practical experience in data mining, statistics, simulation, optimisation and modelling (e.g. regression; stochastic processes; CHAID; clustering, artificial intelligence, SVM, etc.)
• Ability to communicate effectively to fellow decision science colleagues and to senior management.
