Description:
Risk Analyst, Based in Birmingham, UK, off-site working and European travel will be a regular requirement.Purpose of Role:
As part of a multi-skilled team, support the growth plans of the Group while ensuring that levels of risk and activities respect best practice in the critical areas of Operations Risk Management (including Resilience & Business Continuity Management), Corporate Governance and Regulatory Compliance.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure that satisfactory and consistent standards of risk identification and analysis are applied and assist in the allocation of cases, identifying genuinely urgent issues for priority action in preference to routine work.
Ensure that the operations risk self-assessment programme within the Group meets all necessary internal, US, EU and Country Regulatory requirements. Monitor the risk self-assessment results and facilitate remedial actions.
Support and encourage to develop and share their knowledge of the local markets, establish and maintain good working relationships with relevant Regulators (specifically the Financial Services Authority, “FSA”, in the UK and equivalents elsewhere in Europe).
Support, where required, implementation of compliance and the deployment of Global operations risk management tools throughout the Group, including scoring mechanisms for the allocation of operations risk capital and granular operational risk reporting.
Support the back office computer systems design and implementation, maintain Global Leasing Exposure Database and prepare the back office systems to interface with Enterprise Risk Management Tools.
Provide credit risk management oversight on credit exposures across the Group and support local operations in structuring high value, complex, cross border / pan-European credit risk situations.
Support Group Business Continuity Manager by ensuring that the Crisis, Business Continuity & Security Plans for the Group Head Office and its Country Operations meet or exceed Group Global Business Continuity Standards.
Support Group Compliance Manager / Internal Audit capability, to include such areas as Data Protection, Anti Money Laundering Legislation and Fraud Prevention.
Write & maintain Internal Policies & Procedures on all aspects of Risk & Financial Management.
Perform any other tasks and duties as and when required.
Qualifications and Experience Required : Fluency in spoken and written English plus, ideally, one or more European languages with a good knowledge of financial / leasing / credit risk / operational risk terms. Some accounting / banking / finance house / business studies qualifications or practical knowledge is expected. Risk Support is currently expected to provide coverage in the following languages: English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, Dutch, German and Polish .
Responsibilities for Staff / Resources:
Staff: no direct reports
Financial: none other than team responsibility to ensure that costs are contained and that any expenditure is within budget approval.
Technical Competencies:
Good knowledge of Excel and Word are required. Knowledge of Access, PowerPoint and an awareness of Visio would be advantageous.
All analyses, policies, reporting & associated correspondence are in English and candidates may need to take and pass a proficiency examination.
Behavioural Competencies: Self-starter with enquiring mind, good organisational skills and attention to detail. Must be able to work under pressure with competing priorities and tight timescales, often working away from base.
Other essential requirements for the role-holder: Aptitude to progress to Management role within 3 years. Job holder must at all times maintain a valid Passport and, where appropriate, valid Visa arrangements covering travel to, from and between the Countries covered by Risk Support. As part of the Business Continuity Incident Response Team, must be able to travel abroad at short notice. Driving licence is essential.
