The UK's leading privately owned professional educational institute are currently recuriting for a professional Senior Credit Controller to manage and maintain the student fee's ledger.
Job Purpose:              Assuming responsibility for the accurate processing of invoices and  
                                      successful collection and of monies from customers including businesses and individuals.
Location:                      Holborn

Reporting to:               Finance Director
 
Main duties & responsibilities
 
This is a challenging role covering both database management and credit control with a high level of customer interaction. 
 
Duties include:
 
Payment management
 
·         Raising and checking of invoices via the student records database
·         Production and adjustment of student programme fee invoices
·         Calculating and processing refund cheques and credit cards
·         Taking and processing of payments (on the telephone, face-to-face, via standing order, direct debit and through the online payments system)
·         Inter-company transfers
·         Accurate allocation of payments
·         All financial aspects of the enrolment and registration process
·         Banking
·         Maintaining and filing all payment records received
 
Debtor management and reporting
 
·         Collection of outstanding payments via telephone, letters and statements
·         Negotiation of individual payment plans
·         Close liaison with the Assistant Accountant to ensure reconciliation of student records database and accounts system
·         Regular accurate debt reporting
·         Credit check all potential risks and clients
·         Possibly of dealing with legal aspects between BPP and solicitors, up to and including court hearings
 
Managerial responsibilities
 
The student finance office is a new department which we are expecting to grow and develop quickly. You will be a key player in the development of the team including responsibility for:
 
·         Supervising, supporting and training team members
·         Effectively managing performance and development of team members
·         Reviewing departmental working practices and procedures implementing change where necessary
General responsibilities
 
·         Distribution of undergraduate and postgraduate maintenance cheques, programme fees refunds and allocation/tracking of grants, scholarships and bursaries
·         Provision of advice and information to College staff and students about programme fees
·         Assist across all areas of the Student Finance Office where required
·         Effectively progress finance related projects as directed
·         Providing information and guidance regarding possible sources of funding
·         Offering debt and budgeting advice to students
·         Support the Student Finance Office by attending meetings and producing appropriate information materials
·         Involvement in the initiation or development of policies and procedures
·         Managing applications for hardship funds

Education & Experience
 ·        Graduate calibre
·         Significant experience within a similar environment
·         Good knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
          A recognised professional qualification, or the desire to study for one would be a distinct advantage
Salary;                           £23,000 - £27,000 (depending on experience) plus performance related
                                        bonus
