Job Title: Senior Statistical Analyst
Location Cardiff
Salary £40,000 + Bonus (20%), Pension, Shares, Healthcare etc…

Role Overview

To actively work with Risk, Collection and Recovery teams to execute Decision Science and scorecard development projects. Wherever required, act as project manager to scope, specify, plan, execute and implement decision science solutions and ensure that customer centric solutions are delivered within time and cost constraints to meet expected quality standards.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead or actively contribute to decision science modelling / deep-dive analytic projects.

• Support Decision Science team leader in working with Personal Lending Risk, particularly Collection & Recovery and Loss Forecasting teams, to understand business strategies, processes and systems. Identify opportunities to improve risk management, revenue growth and profitability enhancement through decision science solutions.

• Keep up to speed on the development of cutting-edge decision science techniques and the industrial best practices in applying such methods.

• Regularly monitor the performance of risk scorecards or other predictive models. Recommend / initiate model redevelopment when required.

• Coach and develop other analysts through knowledge transfer, best practice sharing and training sessions.

• Provide advice on statistical or other quantitative modelling techniques to other areas within the group where appropriate.

Candidate Profile

• Highly numerate, with a first degree in quantitative discipline and a higher degree in applied statistics, operations research or economics.

• A seasoned modeller with at least 2-3 years working experience in retail banking or consumer finance sector (particularly Credit Cards and Personal Loans), possessing good business knowledge and acumen.

• Strong information technology skills, likely to include SAS or similar analytical software packages.

• Good knowledge of data mining, statistics, simulation, optimisation and modelling (e.g. regression; stochastic processes; CHAID; clustering, artificial intelligence, etc.)

• Ability to communicate effectively to fellow decision science analysts, non-technical colleagues and to management, including formal presentations.

• Practical project management experience, preferably having knowledge of project management methodologies such as Six Sigma or PRINCE.
