Description:
An excellent opportunity for a Statistician to join a leading global Credit Card organisation based in Nottingham.
Key Tasks
• Build risk, collections and behavioural models.
• Understand the business objective, and how it impacts the model building process.
• Construct a suitable database for the development process.
• Apply the approved statistical techniques to a high standard.
• Alert the manager if unforeseen issues, problems or results occur at any stage.
• Fully document all development work in the approved manner.
• Undertake ad-hoc statistical work as required.
• Attend training courses and seminars as required.
• Be the main focal point for statistical support around sample sizes, test design & confidence intervals
• Meet regulatory guidelines around model build and post-live monitoring
• Proactively look for opportunities in the business to apply statistical solutions
Candidate Specification
Strong analytical skills and business understanding are critical for the role. A willingness and ability to learn the following skills is also essential. Existing knowledge of any of the following areas is a distinct advantage.
• Knowledge of various systems and data sources.
• Knowledge of external data sources e.g. credit bureau.
• SAS and SQL skills.
• Understanding of standard modelling methodologies.
• Broader knowledge of statistics and statistical modelling techniques
Advanced degree in Statistics or related area ( Operational Research, Mathematics, Econometrics)
A minimum of 12-18 months in a similar statistician role
Knowledge of SAS and/or scorecard building would be an advantage but not essential.
Strong quantitative and qualitative skills essential.
The basic salary on offer for this role is circa £35,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits.
